Get to know Amanda W

How can you support people?

Amanda sees her role as listening, providing a non-judgemental space, providing empathy and building a strong therapeutic relationship to assist in overcoming life’s challenges. She works collaboratively and therapeutically to establish personalised goals and develop strategies to assist in overcoming obstacles.

Amanda is trauma-informed, strengths based and person-centred in her work practice to support people experiencing a range of mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, post traumatic and complex trauma, bi-polar disorder and schizophrenia.

How does your background shape the way you work?

Amanda has a varied work history from working in foster care, family violence and disability, supporting individuals and families to feel supported in attaining their goals.

What is your approach to working with people?

Amanda’s toolkit provides trauma informed care and uses a range of evidenced based therapeutic interventions that may include cognitive behavioural therapies (CBT), solution-focused therapies, mindfulness, and relaxation interventions as well as EMDR (eye movement desensitisation reprocessing). She has a keen interest in somatic-based interventions and is trained as a trauma informed somatic-based yoga teacher and can utilise some of these skills within therapy for clients that want to experience mindful movement and somatic techniques.
