Prior to this role I worked in community mental health where I provided hands on support to people living with complex psychosocial disabilities, trauma backgrounds and challenges with addiction. These experiences not only gave me experience working with complex needs and challenging behaviours, but also gave me real insight into the need for healthy boundaries and self-care when supporting/caring for somebody with complex needs.
My thesis project at university involved research into perfectionism and wellbeing. Perfectionism being something that I can struggle with myself at times, I’ve develop my own skills to manage the stress that can arise from setting unrealistic standards, something I can now also support my clients with.
