Telehealth has always been an option for accessing healthcare services, however it gained much more funding and attention because of the pandemic. Thanks to today’s fast-paced digital world, it has become a mainstay for the way people access essential healthcare services across Australia. It is convenient, use-friendly and accessible.

Before we begin, let’s take a closer look at who we are and the services we offer, here at Therapy Pro.

Our team works with babies through to ageing adults for ongoing allied health and therapy or individual assessments.

We pride ourselves on our award-winning quality therapy that makes a difference to our clients’ lives and fuels our drive for excellence each and every day.

We work tirelessly to help our clients achieve their goals – whether these fall under the banner of the NDIS plans, Medicare, private health insurance, or otherwise.

Therapy Pro offers flexible services, available face-to-face and via telehealth

Our mobile in-person sessions take place wherever you’re most comfortable. Whether that’s your home or workplace, a community location or school, or the local park, we’re committed to providing flexible services.

Through telehealth appointments, individuals can access therapeutic services. If you have a computer, smart phone, and the internet, your location is no longer a limitation to receiving quality care. NDIS funds can be used for telehealth sessions.

Our mobile therapists are located in Melbourne, Sydney, Northern NSW and Queensland, and we can provide telehealth services Australia-wide.

Now, let’s take a closer look at what our telehealth appointments are like.

What is a telehealth appointment?

A telehealth appointment is essentially a healthcare visit conducted over digital platforms.

It allows you to consult with your healthcare team remotely, typically via video call.

This kind of digital healthcare visit can encompass a variety of services, including therapy sessions, medical consultations, and health education.

Here at Therapy Pro, you can access all our services via telehealth. This includes clinical assessments and therapeutic services across:

  • Occupational Therapy
  • Positive Behaviour Support
  • Psychology
  • Speech and Language Pathology
  • Social Work
  • Therapy for Kids

What are the benefits and potential limitations of a telehealth appointment?

Telehealth offers several benefits, such as increased accessibility for individuals in remote locations or those with mobility issues. It also provides flexibility as you can schedule appointments at a time that suits your routine, eliminating the need for travel.

For those clients who require therapy services sooner (and who don’t want to join a wait list), accessing telehealth can make a huge difference. Here at Therapy Pro, there are also opportunities for commencing your therapy via telehealth and then moving to in-person, if that’s an option that suits you as well.

Of course, it’s important to be aware of potential limitations with telehealth so you can weigh up your options.

You really do need access to reliable technology and a stable internet connection so as not to interrupt your therapy sessions. There may also be some instances where an in-person session is more suitable, particularly for complex assessments.

How to book your telehealth appointment at Therapy Pro?

We have worked to make booking a telehealth appointment as easy as possible.

It involves going onto our website and submitting an inquiry via our contact page or a referral via our quick referral page.

You’ll fill in some personal details, to assist us in matching you with the perfect therapist, and provide some information in relation to the therapy services you require.

From there, a representative from our friendly Customer Service team will contact you to confirm therapist availability and book in your telehealth appointment with you. There is some paperwork involved, however we work through this with you.

To access your appointment, you’ll simply click through the link provided to you in your confirmation email.

How does a therapy appointment via telehealth work?

A therapy appointment via telehealth is not very different from an in-person session.

After logging in through the secure link provided in your confirmation email, your session will begin.

You’ll be able to discuss your concerns, progress, and goals, just like you would in-person.

The main difference is that you’ll be speaking to your therapist through a screen, which may take a little getting used to, but many people find they quickly adjust to the format.

How should you prepare for a telehealth appointment?

Before your telehealth appointment, make sure your device is fully charged and you’re in a quiet, private location where you won’t be interrupted. Take some time to test your internet connection to ensure it’s stable.

If it is your first appointment, having a list of questions or concerns ready can also help you make the most of your time.

What technology do I need to access telehealth?

The technology required for a telehealth appointment is usually straightforward and something many of us use every day.

Typically, you’ll need a device with a camera and microphone, such as a smartphone, tablet, or computer.

You’ll also need a reliable internet connection to ensure a smooth, uninterrupted session.

Some telehealth services may require you to download a specific application, however that isn’t necessary when you book your appointment with Therapy Pro.

There is also the option of undertaking your appointment over the phone, removing the need access to a device or the internet. Simply mention this when our team contacts you and they will make the necessary arrangements.

What are Therapy Pro’s telehealth terms and conditions?

At Therapy Pro, we’ve made the telehealth booking process as seamless as possible.

Our terms and conditions ensure that all your sessions are confidential, safe, and secure. You’ll also be able to reschedule or cancel your appointment.

Before your therapy session commences, we will ask that you agree to our terms of service and provide signed consent forms.

Our terms and conditions are on a par with other service providers.

We simply ask that you give us 3 days notification should you need to cancel or reschedule your telehealth appointment. If you are accessing your therapy via NDIS funding, we also ask that you commit to your first 5 sessions, which gives our therapists the time required to thoroughly assess your needs and develop a personalised plan to meet your goals. How does Therapy Pro ensure data security and privacy during telehealth appointments?

We are committed to protecting your privacy and securing your data. All telehealth appointments are conducted over secure platforms. We recommend not using public Wi-Fi for your sessions to further ensure your data’s safety.

What is the aftercare process like after a telehealth appointment?

Following your telehealth appointment, your therapist will typically provide a summary of the session and any next steps or actions you should take.

If follow-up appointments are needed, they can be scheduled at the end of the session.

You’ll receive a confirmation email for your appointment, along with the link to your next telehealth session.

Can I access NDIS funding for my telehealth appointment?

Yes, you certainly can!

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) supports telehealth appointments for participants. The NDIS recognises that these services provide equal access to healthcare for all individuals, particularly those living in remote areas or those who may have mobility limitations.

You can use your NDIS funds to pay for telehealth appointments; we recommend checking with your NDIS plan manager or coordinator to confirm what’s included in your plan.
